OBRAS 2018

A series of site specific performances that became the starting point for a new artistic practice, in which Akinyi actively engages with the energies, histories, and spirits of specific spaces. Akinyi lets the spaces speak to her through short movement improvisations.

This artistic practice/investigation was birthed and manifested during a residency at OBRAS ART in Portugal.

During her time at OBRAS Akinyi engaged in a deep artistic collaboration with Irish visual artist Rob Monaghan and together they created the video work I Am All Things.

This work went on to show at BabyForest Festival - Ireland 2018, as part of an exhibition about Monaghan’s work - Évora Portugal 2019, and at Fuselage Dance Film Festival - Seattle USA 2020.
